Like your favorite old pair of jeans, traveling as part of a women-only learning adventure is easy and comfortable. Imagine trekking through the lush jungles of Costa Rica, exploring open-air markets in Provence or practicing healing techniques in Sedona, all within a group of curious, independent women who love learning as much as you do. Better yet, these curated, women-only programs are led by women!
With increasing demand from our female participants, Road Scholar has taken the many requests we’ve received for women-only programs to heart and made it happen. We’re excited to share our newest women-only learning adventures in the U.S. and around the world.
Active Adventures for Women
If an active classroom is for you, we can help you keep both your body and mind active. Lace up your hiking boots for Nature Hiking in the Southern Appalachian Mountains, where you’ll explore the Southern Blue Ridge Mountains, search for wildflowers and learn about Appalachian history. Or relax on Finding Your Bliss in the Land of Enchantment for Women, a retreat in Santa Fe, New Mexico, filled with yoga, hiking and regional cuisine in one of the most beautiful regions of the Southwest.
International Adventures for Women
Set your sights on faraway places, like Costa Rica, Portugal, Alaska or Kenya and Tanzania, where you’ll track wildlife on the Serengeti plains and learn about elephants in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Some of our newest learning adventures include a long weekend in Iceland where you’ll soak in geothermal heated waters, explore waterfalls, and learn about Icelandic history and culture. From folk museums to the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano, this six-day adventure might even include the magical northern lights if the conditions cooperate.
Say “¡Hola!” to Cuba in 2026, when our first women-only groups depart for Havana. You’ll experience the vibrant culture of this country on this eight-day, keep-the-pace-learning adventure. Learn about women-centric studies and U.S.-Cuba relations as you explore the cities that make this country so special.
U.S. Adventures for Women
If you’d like to stay stateside, there’s no better experience than the Best of Sedona and Red Rock Country for Women. You’ll explore some of Sedona’s most beloved sights and red-rock vistas on an open trolley excursion. Or spend six days immersing yourself in the music, food and architecture of New Orleans and see for yourself why the Crescent City is one of the most unique cities in the U.S. From the French Quarter and the Garden District to Lake Pontchartrain, you’ll cover a lot of ground on this slower-paced learning adventure.
