This tour is a good length to cover all the places visited. You have plenty of time to explore on your own and set your own pace. The activities can be tailored for the very fit and those who need a slower pace. You will see some spectacular places.

“Best of Color Country”… yes indeed, this RS trip was the best. I have long wanted to really get to see and appreciate these national parks. My wish was fulfilled and more so. I really enjoyed the time we spent and learned a lot about the amazing geology. It made me appreciate it so much more. Seeing the stars on the North Rim was magical. My time at Bryce and Zion perfect. Yes, the word appreciate is repetitive. I can’t think of another word to express my time on this trip. Our group leaders were great. Daphne is experienced, warm, knowledgeable, a good teacher. Briscoe is new to the game, but a very good fit. They were a very good team, looking out for all our group to assure that they were doing well and enjoying the journey. Everything went smoothly. The options for hiking and other activities were very flexible to meet our individual activity needs. I really enjoyed the free time. Food and lodgings were good. I do wish there had been an optional flight seeing trip in Kanab

If you think you're interested in this trip, do it. Go for it. My wife and I found it to be fantastic from beginning to end. The "wow factor" of these national parks is off the charts, and David and Joel not only ran the program flawlessly, their humor, knowledge and passion for the geology that blessed us with these natural wonders made every day fun and fascinating. The program is as advertised in terms of the amount of physical activity involved, but the participants in our group did not have trouble keeping up in the few cases where not everyone was up to a particular hike, they were offered a shorter alternative walk or accommodated in some other way. It was a wonderful, wonderful experience. We highly recommend it.

I chose this trip #11573 -Best of Color National Parks: Zion, Bryce & Grand Canyon-for I had not seen these national parks and I was interested in the travel package that Road Scholar offered. Having all the arrangements of lodging, food, transportation, and guided hikes sounded perfect. The week at a glance that was given to us at orientation was the best outline one could receive to guide a bus load of travelers through this week. As I said to the group when we first met “All I needed to do was just not miss the bus”. I have no complaints about the food and hotel accommodations. Seeing these beautiful national parks was overwhelming and magnificent, a memory I’ll cherish forever. Many THANKS to the guides Bryan and Eric, and the wonderful bus driver Ray.

Don’t hesitate to go on this trip! I had never been to this part of our country and the beauty is mind blowing. The program was well thought out & so enjoyable. I’m in good shape but not great and it was challenging for me at times especially in the heat but still doable. I broke out of my comfort zone and hiked in areas that were near drop offs. The accommodations and dining choices were great.

Overall, it was a great experience that I would not have accomplished without Road Scholar. Pros: A) Wonderful fellow travelers that included me, a solo traveler, in their activities. B) Our tour leaders and driver were seasoned professionals. C) Most of the trip planning and execution were included in the trip. Cons: A) Our group was larger (38) than I had anticipated, making it hard to get to know everyone. YouTube videos of this trip featured 24 members. B) I caught COVID for the first time on this trip, and I believe everyone was exposed to it before we purchased masks. I am eagerly looking forward to a 2nd RS trip in October 2024. I will wear a protective mask while in group settings.

The ability to visit 3 beautiful uniquely different National Parks in 1 week is truly a special opportunity. Food, accommodations, travel, walking/hiking and all other aspects of this trip are well balanced for the different ages and physical abilities of a large group. Five Stars: Not only were the 3 National Parks breathtaking, but the two group leaders-- David Best and Devon Beam-- provided enough flexibility in activities, hiking and sightseeing that our large group of diverse hiking abilities was quite satisfied. This was my 12th RS program and I highly recommend this itinerary. And just when I thought the RS group leaders could not get any better, I meet up with leaders like David and Devon who totally impressed me with their knowledge, abilities and affable personalities. Bravo.

Spectacular scenery at all three magnificent Canyons. I enjoyed all the locations we visited especially Bryce Canyon at sunrise, the Riverside Walk in Zion, the North Rim's Bright Angel Point hike and the bonus locations added to the itinerary - Coral Pink Sand Dunes and Kanab's Little Hollywood Museum. Plenty of super photography opportunities of scenery, wildlife and birds (even condors !) . We had an experienced, knowledgable and friendly team of leaders Don, Rocky and Karen who certainly ensured we had a terrific excursion.

I was so disappointed in this trip. It was my fourth with Road Scholar; the other three were excellent. The tour leaders were uncommunicative, not letting us know plans in advance and not talking very much about what we were seeing. We only had five hours at the Grand Canyon. I had a significant problem with one of the hotels, and got no help from the leaders in resolving it. I loved the parks and my fellow travelers were great, as was the driver, but overall I didn’t get my money’s worth.

Wow, one of my favorite Road Scholar trips. We covered a lot of territory, but I still felt like I had the time to get immersed in each park. Our guides Dave H and Rob B used their considerable skills as educators to enlighten and entertain us throughout the trip, and our bus driver Karen was awesome. These canyons are magnificent, there is a great view around each corner so hike as far as you can, and being among the rocks will ground you (in a positive way). I am now thinking of taking my grandkids on one of their family trips.

This anti-aging tour of Zion, Bryce Canyon, and Grand Canyon national parks lacked only a campfire with marshmallows and group singing of "Make new friends and keep the old - one is silver and the other's gold!" Our group of 30 something mostly quite mature adults from across the United States agreed that our 8-day experience together deserved a big thumbs up. Our group leaders and bus driver were top-notch. The tour was well-planned and well-paced; pretty much exactly as described in the promotional material. Staying in the national park lodges was definitely a highlight. We felt the leaders gave us much more insight than we would have had if we had tried to plan the three sights ourselves. Varied trail lengths and difficulty. The trip was just about perfect! All three leaders, Diana, Marcia, and Kelly (who drove the bus) were kind, friendly and very knowledgeable. All were long-time residents of "Color Country" and really knew the area. Staying in the three parks allowed us to see the very dark skies after all the day tourists went home. The hikes were just right for us -- not too strenuous for a person who can easily walk 4 miles on level ground. If uneven ground or heights make you pause, you may wish to observe a few hikes from the top. Some on our trip did this. The meals, the agenda, and the people, leaders and participants, made this a great trip. Much better than renting a car and trying to do it ourselves!

After leaving group I continued with my own tour back thru Utah and visited the Capitol Reef and Arches National Parks aand Colorado National Momunent. The information I was given during the tour was very helpful to understand what I was viewing. Having referred to the handouts several times. After writing the above I had forgotten to add: Meeting in Vegas was a waste of miles both to Zion and returning from the North Rim. Other trips I've checked seem toleave from St. George, which is considerably closer to the Utah NP's.

The website is easy to navigate and well laid out. Having the program's contact information is real helpful as I needed assistance with a few aspects of the initial sign up of my particular experience.

Kerry – Class of 2011 | Rancho Murieta, CA
The Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon program was amazing. I would have doubled the time in each place. The leaders were approachable and knowledgeable. The accommodations were great. The food was mostly good but a bit of a challenge if you are vegan (I am not vegan but noticed that disparity). The bus driver was also a gem.

Rhona – Class of 2019 | Glenside, PA
Great program that allows you to see three beautiful national parks in one trip. Zion, Bryce and the Grand Canyon each have their own unique character and are truly inspiring to see. Seeing the parks with other like minded people added to our enjoyment of the trip. We had a great time!

Linda – Class of 2008 | Gaithersburg, MD
Our trip to Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon gave me a wonderful perspective on the geology of the southwest and its long and complex history. What an amazing sleuth job by so many explorers and scientists over the years. I look at the landscape in a completely different way now!

Mark – Class of 2016 | Simpsonville, SC
This trip provides an extraordinary first look at two of the most spectacular National Parks in southern Utah and the less common but equally impressive views from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. You will get the most from these trips if you are able to maintain a high level of physical activity for the many hikes.

We just returned from the "Best of Color Country - National Parks" trip and couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. The trip leaders, accommodations, food, fellow travelers, and sights were all amazing. I highly recommend this trip!

James – Class of 2019 | Xenia, OH
This Road Scholar trip was my first, but I am now paid up for my second, and am planning a third. Lori, Phil and Glenn took us into "color country" with compassion, enthusiasm, and professionalism. From the lectures to the hikes, from the meals with fellow travelers to the conversations, I was stunned by sunrises, overwhelmed by beauty, fascinated by learning. I have traveled national parks by myself - this is far superior. Many thanks to all on the big white bus!

Dixie State University RS Team (Phil (Instructor), Lori (Program Coordinator), Glen (Driver))were phenomenal. Activity level is as described with options for more or less strenuous activity. Special thanks to Dixie State Univ Road Scholar facilities who accommodated us on the last nite of our adventure! DSU is WELL SERVED by the RS program and your capable, caring, & knowledgeable DSURS Team (Lori, Glen & Phil)!

Kathy – Class of 2019 | Orangevale, CA
This was our first Road Scholar trip and we weren't sure we were "bus tour people." Our trip was wonderful and everyone was welcoming. We will do another trip next year.

Terry – Class of 2010 | Edgewater, FL
Best of Color Country was the seventh Road Scholar trip I've attended and one of the best! Jen and Jeff are extremely knowledgeable about the geology, plants, trees, and history of the area. They explained the layers of the rocks and rock formations in a way that was easy to understand. I enjoyed learning about the Mormon history of the area and the pioneering Mormons. The hikes in Zion and Bryce were amazing. I especially loved the hike to the bottom of the hoodoos at Bryce. The rock formations and scenery in Zion are incredible and the hikes took us into all of it. I can't say enough good stuff about this trip. If you are at all interested in these three parks, go on this trip, especially if you've never seen Zion, Bryce, or the Grand Canyon North Rim. Food is excellent with lots of choices. Accommodations are excellent also. I will definitely be booking another Southwest trip through NAU Road Scholar in the future.

William – Class of 2019 | Charlotte, NC
This is an excellent way to visit and learn about three spectacular National Parks through a very efficient trip. The instructors are very knowledgeable and the program is well thought out. It also includes a bonus visit to the Pipe Springs National Monument - which was also a great part of the trip.

Marilyn – Class of 2016 | Bowling Green, OH
The opportunity to visit Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyon led by experts who could convey the complexity of the geology, biology, and human history of the area was fantastic. It wasn't until we were returning that I realized the range of information that was shared.
