Egypt
Your passport must have 1 blank passport page(s) for entry/exit visas in this country.
A travel visa is required and it may be obtained upon arrival.
The cost of this visa is not included in the cost of your trip.
You’ll receive detailed information about your required entry documents in the information packet we send after you enroll.
Please note: We highly recommend participants obtain their visa upon arrival, as there is no processing fee. A tourist visa, valid for 30 days, can be purchased on arrival at the Cairo International Airport for US $25 per person (subject to change). The fee must be paid in US dollars in cash, and we recommend participants have the exact amount when paying for the visa. If you are not holding US passport please contact your authorities for information about required documents to enter Egypt.

The CDC recommends all visitors entering these countries to be up to date on their vaccinations for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, Measles, Chickenpox, Polio, and the flu. We encourage all participants to discuss their travel plans and personal health with their health care provider prior to the program.

Getting to the site: TAXIS Taxis are readily available outside the CAI Cairo Airport to help you reach your program hotel. The journey should take approximately 30 – 45 minutes and cost you between 6 – 12 USD (100 – 200 EGP). Official Egyptian taxis in Cairo are either black and white (old design) or entirely white (new design). While both are safe for travel, please note that the traditional black and white models will most likely not have air conditioning or a running meter. Drivers will not accept payment in credit cards and rarely accept US dollars, so please be sure to exchange money to Egyptian pounds before your departure from the airport. A 15% customary tip will be expected. PRIVATE LIMOUSINE SERVICES Over twenty different companies provide limousine/private shuttle services at Cairo Airport. These services may be booked ahead of time online or on-site at the airport. Upon your arrival, either approach one of the customer service windows inside the terminal or a curbside representative outside of the terminal. The dispatcher will tell you a fare and direct you to the correct car. Prices vary depending on time of day and the type of vehicle, but these services usually range from 20 – 45 USD (350 – 700 EGP). A customary tip of 15% will be expected for the driver, and you may also want to give some additional pounds to the men who will assist you with loading your bags into the car. *Note: While departing the airport you may stop by the Tourist Police booth, where they will write down the license number of your vehicle along with your name. You may also be asked to sign a log book for your security. This is customary in Egypt.
