Jordan

Please note: A travel visa is required for this country and must be obtained upon arrival at Amman's Queen Alia International Airport. The program provider will assist participants that have purchased air through Road Scholar and arriving in Amman on the program arrival day after 7:00 am. The visa fee is about $60 USD, payable only in local currency. There are ATMs and exchange offices available. NOTE: For participants who have bought the air with Road Scholar, Jordanian visa fee is included in program cost. This information pertains to participants holding U.S. passports. Non-U.S. Citizens should check entry and visa requirements both, for Jordan and Egypt.
Egypt
Your passport must have 1 blank passport page(s) for entry/exit visas in this country.

Please note: We highly recommend participants obtain their visa upon arrival, as there is no processing fee. A tourist visa, valid for 30 days, can be purchased on arrival at the Cairo International Airport for US $25 per person (subject to change). The fee must be paid in US dollars in cash, and we recommend participants have the exact amount when paying for the visa. Large bills are not recommended and it is difficult to get small change in return. NOTE: This information pertains to participants holding U.S. passports. Non-U.S. Citizens should check entry and visa requirements both, for Jordan and Egypt.
No additional inoculations are required for entry into Jordan and Egypt. Any precautionary shots recommended by the CDC should be discussed with your personal physician. The CDC website is: www.cdc.gov.
If Road Scholar is arranging your air travel to and from the program, and you travel on the scheduled start and end dates, you’ll receive free round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel.

Meet the group at Signia by Hilton Amman in Amman
Start of Trip: 2:00 p.m. Day 2 hotel check-in followed by Welcome Dinner and Orientation.
Getting to the site: A taxi from the Amman International Airport Queen Alia to the start hotel takes approximately 30 min and approximately $60 (paid in cash). Official taxis are yellow. There is also the option to order a transfer via app Uber and Careem.
Getting to the site by train or bus: Bus and train information available at the airport.
Your trip ends on: Saturday, December 20, 2025 in Cairo at InterContinental Semiramis Hotel
End of Trip: 1:00 a.m. for earliest airport transfers; transfers continuing through the day depending on flight departure times. 10:00 a.m. hotel check-out.
Getting to the airport: Taxis to the CAI Cairo Airport are available from your program hotel. The journey should take approximately 20 – 30 minutes and cost you between 20-30 USD in USD or local currency. Please be sure to exchange money to Egyptian Pounds prior to your departure from the hotel.
Information if you are purchasing your own airfare: Participants who have not purchased airfare through Road Scholar are responsible for making their own transfer arrangements to the first site at the beginning of the program, as well as from the last site at the end of the program. The Information Packet Road Scholar sends in advance of the program includes details needed to make your transfer arrangements. If you wish to purchase airfare through Road Scholar, please call (800) 241-1404. Please note: In the unlikely event Road Scholar must make changes to the program's arrival or departure details, we will notify all participants as soon as possible. Participants who have purchased Road Scholar airfare are protected against airline change fees; however, anyone who has not purchased Road Scholar airfare will be required to make their own adjustments and may incur fees imposed by the airline.
