Carlota Villate
Carlota Villate has been a group travel leader in her native Spain as well as in Scotland, Scandinavia, France and Portugal since 1998. She has lived in France and the U.K. and occasionally works as an assistant interpreter in French, English and Spanish for international arts and cultural events. From 2003-2005, she gave lectures, organized cultural activities and provided student support for Washington University’s program in Spain. She has worked with Road Scholar groups since 2012.

Activity Level
Outdoor: Spirited
Hiking 2-12.5 miles daily; trails and dirt roads are well-marked and are generally in forested or alpine areas. Terrain will consist of areas of tree roots, rocks, potential slippery areas, and some steep ascents and descents. Many of the hikes will take place at elevations between 3500-7200 feet. Elevations visited up to 12,700 feet. Hiking experience is necessary for this program and participants should be confident in their ability to navigate uneven terrain. Sturdy hiking shoes are required. Collapsible hiking poles are recommended.
