Activity Level
On this adventure, you and your grandchild will meet fantastic creatures, from engaging owls to lovable llamas! Get up close with some of these animals during live demonstrations at marine centers and sanctuaries. Learn about marine critters during a marine lab activity, and meet working animals at a farm. Go on an adventurous sea-life cruise to learn about local creatures such as crabs, sea lions, eagles and more.

  • Meet and learn about how some animals are trained to work alongside humans to help keep crops and people safe.
  • At the Hatfield Marine Science Center, meet the resident octopus, and get hands-on with snails, barnacles and crabs.
  • On a sea-life cruise with local experts, learn about crabs, sea lions, whales and marine birds.

Kort Clayton is a Master Falconer with 30 years of experience. He has delivered and managed bird abatement services for a broad spectrum of clients. Kort holds an M.Sc. in Wildlife Biology and is well versed in both state and federal wildlife regulations from his 15 years of environmental consulting experience. He is a former director and president of the Oregon Falconers Association. He currently owns and operates Integrated Avian Solutions, a falconry-based bird abatement company based in Portland, Oregon.

Terry Clifford
Terry Clifford, a native Oregonian, is a veteran elementary school teacher. She enjoys learning through travel and nature, whether on a local outing, road tripping through the Pacific Northwest, or visiting family in Australia. Terry has co-authored a textbook on local history. She has explored the ruts and swales of the Oregon Trail, helped with archaeological digs at Ft. Vancouver, and studied the Lewis and Clark trail while cruising the Columbia and Snake Rivers.

Carolyn Singh
Carolyn Singh now resides in Southern Oregon’s magnificent Rogue Valley after retiring from more than four decades as an academic librarian and instructor in three U.S. time zones and Fiji. She is thrilled to share the many wonders of this extraordinary region with Road Scholars. In the offseason, she is an avid hiker, gardener, food ways and literacy volunteer, and RYS certified yoga instructor.
