St. Petersburg has world-renowned museums and great restaurants. It's the cleanest city I've ever been in.

One of the best RS trips I've taken. Great programs, excellent leadership, fabulous food. Easy to get around without walking via the Looper. St. Pete had so much to offer. Museums were fabulous. Highly recommend this trip!

I'm still talking about the great program, Signature City St. Petersburg, to my family and friends. The presenters were outstanding, our class facilitator was awesome and delightful and the variety of fiend trips exceptional. I can't wait to attend my next Signature City, which will Miami, at month end.

This tour was really fantastic; I would absolutely return to St. Petersburg as it really is a beautiful area. Cindy, our tour director was a lot of fun and enhanced the entire trip. Everything in town is walkable, with a couple of exceptions. And if you need to ride or just want to experience the trolley, the Looper Trolley is free and does a circuit around the Bayfront part of St. Pete's.
The restaurants chosen for this trip were wonderful; the food was really good. Museums, museums, museums .... we went to several but need to come back to see the rest as there are 31 museums in town. And they are impressive museums, very well curated and the docents were all so enthusiastic and knowledgeable as well. The Imagine Museum is a definite plus on this tour as well as the glass blowing demonstration.
I would repeat this trip with no qualms whatsoever.

This was my 21st trip with Road Scholar. It was one of the best trips because of the variety of activities and the excellent leadership skills of the tour leader, Cindy. All local guides were knowledgeable and experienced. I especially liked the walking tour of murals around St. Petersburg. The Chihuly museum was exciting to see also. The food choices were superb and included Italian, Mexican and several seafood options. One highlight of St. Petersburg is the “Looper Trolley” which is free of charge and goes all around town every 15 minutes. Our group was able to frequently use this great mode of transportation. The pace of the week was relaxing. I highly recommend this trip.

The St. Petersburg Dec. 2024 program was excellent. I had some concern ahead of time that the itinerary and experience would be impacted due to the recent hurricanes, but that was not the case. Several in the group remarked that the town was better than expected-- clean, walkable and full of restaurants, shops and museums. The Dali Museum was definitely a high-light. Our group leader, Carolyn, was warm, knowledgeable and energetic. She made the trip fun and greatly increased the enjoyment of the trip.

I highly recommend this program as it is the perfect balance of art, good food, and walking in a city that has sunshine over 350 days a year. The city is clean and restaurants were in walking distance from the Hilton Bayfront. This program is impressive for art and the amount of galleries.

It has been a while since I took this trip - but it has been on my mind.
I thought there was not enough activities to do for an entire week. Wednesday afternoon and evening was entirely open. I did have a friend pick me up and show me some things. In the evening we went to a concert at the Palladium which was quite lovely and when telling others in my RoadScholar group - indicated they would have loved to have had the information. The tickets were not expensive and gave me an opportunity to see the inside of this iconic building.
Also and 2nd Urban Art or Mural tour could have been a optional offer. That tour guide was exceptional.
The leaders were adequate - but not exceptional. Since they had never done this tour, I will not criticize. they really offered few suggestions for what to do on our free day - but they were unfamiliar with the city.
Sorry this took so long coming, Josette

Wonderful week! Terrific leader. Really enjoyed the beautiful city and seeing the various sights. Hotel is in a very nice area. The ‘looper’ transportation in the city is easy to use and readily available and the harbor area is very pleasant to walk.

Wow! St. Petersburg is a hidden gem tucked across the bay from Tampa. I was surprised by the fabulous Salvador Dali Museum, the beautiful Sunken Gardens and their flamboyant history, and the numerous other attractions. The city is gorgeous and a safe place to wander and enjoy Florida sunshine. I would highly recommend this adventure.

A delightful experience. St. Petersburg is a vibrant city with world class museums and lots of activities to enjoy.

I like the diversity of experiences on this trip. Having museums, lectures, a mural tour, botanical garden and a boat experience kept it interesting. The city is walkable and the Looper (free transit) made it easy to get around on your own. As a single traveler, I enjoyed getting to know lots of friendly people and felt very safe at all times.

This was, for me an excellent introduction to St. Petersburg. The resort aspects were not a surprise, but the world-class art museums were and were an unexpected highlight. I had heard of the Dali museum, but the James Museum of Western and Wildlife Art was a total surprise of world-class quality, as was the Imagine museum.

My husband and I just got home from St.Petersburg. It was a wonderful program for active people our age who are couples or singles who enjoy art and flowers, lovely warm weather and are able to walk up to a mile a day.

A superb program all the way around. Our group leader Carolyn did an excellent job. We had a delightfully compatible group of scholars who easily interacted with each other. The program's mix of activities, I thought, provided us with an excellent feel for what the city's all about. Our speakers and docents were top notch. St. Petersburg proved to be, in my opinion, a very likable city blessed with friendly citizens, a plenitude of museums staffed by very knowledgeable docents, and seemingly very safe streets. The restaurant scene is robust and active. We were able to easily walk to many of the sites and restaurants we visited and the Looper "trolley" provided free transportation around the center city for those of us who wanted to take a break. Given the city's rate of growth and development, it is easy to understand why many of its inhabitants are concerned about the well-being of the city's infrastructure and environment. Fortunately, so far, for the citizenry, the city's powers-the-be seem to have maintained a progressive stance. What I enjoy most about the Signature City programs is that they allow one to stay put and spend more time learning about our surroundings.

St. Pete is a surprisingly vibrant city, with an incredible focus on art. The highlights for me of this trip was the Imagine Museum (an outstanding glass museum), the Dali and on my own, visits to the Museum of Fine Arts and the James Museum (western and wildlife art). Our group leader, Cindy Faith, was wonderful, addressing many issues due to the initial poor planning of this trip. (This was the first trip post-COVID to this location, and the RS planning left something to be desired.) However, Cindy ensured that we had a great experience. In addition to a nice hotel location, this program had some of the best food (choices, quality and service) of any of the many RS trips I have undertaken. Three places still listed on the website were not visited - the Vinoy Hotel, the United Methodist Church, and Museum of Fine Arts. Although RS has not (at least yet) updated the website, at least two of these places are not likely to be visited as they are under major renovation for the next several months. As a result, we had more free time than expected, but there is still plenty to do in St. Pete on your own.

Signature City St. Pete was an excellent program. Art, history, architecture, gardens, beautiful scenery, delicious food, sailboats, sunsets, the list goes on! And such nice people to enjoy it with! I went solo and left with many new friends and great ideas of where to go next. I enjoyed the pace of the trip, how well organized it was, and the excellent docents and guides along the way. St Petersburg is an amazing place with such a rich history. Who knew? I will be back. And I look forward to my next RS adventure, planning it now......

For anyone who enjoys art in a beautiful environment, this is a trip to consider. It was simply terrific. The Dali Museum houses the largest collection outside of Spain in a gorgeous glass and steel building by the Bay. Imagine displays its 500 piece collection of American studio glass which pairs well with the Chihuly Museum. Warehouses being transformed into artist studios. Hundreds of spectacular wall murals. This along with wonderful food, warm sun, and a great leader made for a perfect Signature City!
