Uplifting for me as a 73 year old... expanding my potential future adventure considerations that I should be able to accomplish, but might have had more doubts prior to accomplishing this ANP Multisport in August 2024. My 3 friends that I brought, thought it well worth the money (even spending a little more money on one person/room).

A challenging, but doable, program for most outdoors-active seniors, in a beautiful, historic place.

Highly recommend this program to folks who like to be outdoors and active and who’d enjoy a bit of a physical challenge while at the same time learn a lot about the history of the island before and after it was settled by “rusticators,” about lobsters and lobster fishermen, and about how the island became mostly national park. It was a busy and wonderful week.

This was my first Road Scholar program, and it was everything and more than I hoped it would be. I'm a cyclist, so that was the easy part for me. The hike was the most challenging hike I've ever done, and I was proud of myself for completing it. The kayaking was fun and the guides were great at keeping us all together. One of my highlights was seeing and photographing bald eagles. I LOVED my first Road Scholar trip, and look forward to the next one.

This trip allowed me to explore Acadia NP by bike, on foot, and in sea kayaks! It was a great week with wonderful guides and interesting trip mates. The food and accommodations were great! All adventures were either walking distance or a short van ride away.

This should never have been listed as outdoor spirited. It was definitely challenging and beyond my capabilities. The entire trip was a struggle instead of being enjoyable. The hike up Cadillac Mountain in 90 degree heat was dangerous. Your organization is lucky no one got heat stroke. The accommodation's were good. Meals were mediocre. Because of the heat, mayonnaise should never have been put on sandwiches ( boxed lunches) but should have been provided in packets. Food poisoning waiting to happen. Overall, the trip was a disappointment.

Dear Janis, We’re sorry to hear you did not completely enjoy your experience with us. We are going to take a closer look at the activity level to ensure the program is accurately described. This program did run during a heat wave and the wellbeing of our participants is always of high importance. Some activities were shuffled around, as much as possible, while still trying to provide all excursions as promised for this outdoor adventure. Including the highlight hike on Cadillac Mountain. We hope you give us another try and we see you on your next adventure soon. Sincerely, Road Scholar

This trip was wonderful in every aspect, from our wonderful guide, Linda, to the upbeat fellow participants, to the exciting activities. The hotel in Bar Harbor was perfect for my needs-- in town and close to the harbor. I would highly recommend this trip to those who are in decent shape, and want a bit of a challenge. Acadia NP is awesome!

Glen Tucker & his team have curated fun activities & great learning experiences that make you want to learn more about Acadia National Park. I recommend the Multi-Sport (Kayaking, Biking and Hiking) in Acadia National Park. Everything about the trip was good. When I felt a bit overwhelmed in the Kayak, on the bike, or on the trail up the mountain, the staff were right there encouraging me. The people were great as were the accommodations & food.

Paul – Class of 2017 | Madison, WI
Like our past 5 Road Scholar trips (all outdoor adventures), this was very well organized, with spectacular scenery, outstanding presentations, much "on site" information as we participated with terrific guidance, and local color, history, and nature facts. Bar Harbor and Desert Island are truly unique, and beautiful, with natural beauty, and important natural and social history. Our guide and group leader, Bill Langlois was kind, humorous, attentive, and a skilled hiker, biker and kayaker. He really looked out for each of us, every minute of every activity! The experience was enhanced so much by the passion, facts, depth of perspective, and philosophy of Glenn Tucker, whose love for the nature, history, culture, and life of the area was bolstered by the daily "life lesson" quotes he sent us off on, and his really outstanding presentations on Bar Harbor, Maine, and the life and culture of the lobstermen. Paul and Tracy Bridges were kind and wonderful presenters, and Paul was a great addition on the hike to the top of Cadillac mountain (my wife's favorite activity). Mine was the open sea Kayaking far out into Frenchman's bay and around the several Porcupine Islands, seeing many different seabirds, porpoises, and the sights of the fishing and other crafts. The food was terrific, especially the lobster dinner the night of Glenn's Lobstermen presentation, and the boxed lunches we had on our day trips were really great! My wife enjoyed lobster each of 5 nights, and each night prepared differently. We learned so much, and were so taken with the natural beauty of the woods, water and mountains each day! We'd recommend this to anyone that loves being outside, taking in the smells and sights of nature, with wonderful presenters, and with ~ 20 other like minded individuals who are all eager to learn, and appreciative of the wonderful experience.

Wonderful program. So well organized. It allowed me to do activities I never would have tried on my own. It is very strenuous but the leaders were great about taking breaks and keeping everyone together.

We just finished a wonderful trying Acadia National Park and Bar harbor. It was the multi sport activities and we had a ton of fun getting to know each other and learning so much about the area while while getting tons of exercise. it's such a beautiful area with many interesting things to do learned much more than the average visitor by joining Road Scholar.

This was a great program with excellent leaders. One of the things I really appreciated was that they took care of all the planning and daily logistics: the accommodations, the daily travel, the restaurants, getting the bikes and kayaks arranged and the hiking trails identified. All I needed to do was show up and enjoy it, which made it much more relaxing than other "active" vacations.

This wonderful tour includes not only exceptionally beautiful scenery and fun activities, but also, so much more added educational experiences. The tour leader and educators were exceptional. However, be prepared as the sport activities are more strenuous than most Road Scholars tours rated as "Spirited."

Hiking, biking, and kayaking Acadia National Park in Maine was the best trip we've ever been on. Weaving lecture walks into each morning made for a much deeper connection to an area of the US we've never experienced before. We are very active outdoors and this "spirited" trip was perfect for our abilities in kayaks, on bikes, and hiking. Since we've gotten home we have been recommending Road Scholars to all of our friends. You can't go wrong with this organization.

The Multi-Sport adventure in Acadia National Park was fun, challenging and educational. I learned the importance of many philanthropists to the town of Bar Harbor and to the park. The multi-sport aspect provided challenging and fun activities each day. This made for a very fun and rewarding experience in a beautiful setting. A great week all around with excellent leaders that made it safe and educational.

Wow, what a trip!! The Group Leaders, Bill and Glenn, were fantastic with their knowledge of the area and great sense of humor. I never thought I would ever kayak on the ocean, but it was a wonderful experience. The climb up to the top of Cadillac Mountain was challenging but what views from the top!! Biking the carriage trails was wonderful, stopping at the bridges and carriage house. It was a very educational, fun, and exciting trip.

I attended the Hiking, Biking, Sea Kayaking in Acadia National Park. The best part were the guides, Ellen and Paul who were so kind and patient and shared lots of fun facts (or was it legends) about Bar Harbor. I loved Glenn's presentation on lobsters - really fun! A great balance of activities and free time. Location of motel was perfect - live acoustic music across the street in a lovely park like setting and a cool restaurant called Blaze.

What a wonderful adventure - Acadia and Bar Harbor are just beautiful to see. The experience to see the park from the angles of biking, hiking and kayaking give you a varied experience and understanding of the formation from the Wisconsin Glacier. Great food, great fun, great exercise, great photos!

The outings were amazing and the educational components were wonderful with an engaging teacher but the guide for our outings was unhelpful in preparing us for each day and used lots of sarcasm. The food was inadequate for the level of activity...bring snacks!

Fantastic trip - the geography and scenery and history were the most interesting settings for each of our adventures. Fun guides with: lots of information to satisfy our thirst for local knowledge, ability to flex schedule so we had the best experience for changing weather, and top-notch experience to do what guides do best. Fellow travelers were a diverse and interesting bunch whose company I enjoyed very much. I appreciated the budget accommodations for what they were. I recommend this trip and a visit to Bar Harbor and Acadia NP as a top trip for active-minded folks.

This was my 16th program with RS and it was excellent! The biking was on the carriage roads of Acadia - no cars allowed. The hike up to Cadillac mountain was challenging and the views were breathtaking. The sea kayaking was my favorite, we stopped for lunch on one of the Porcupine islands - so fun!

This Multi Sport program in Bar Harbor and Acadia was great in every way. The leaders were enthusiastic and so knowledgeable about the sports and the area and the history and the lifestyle of the population there. We have made many deposits in our "memory banks" from this experience.

If there is such a thing as a crash course in the culture surrounding Acadia National Park, this tour is it. The history came alive, adding to a better understanding of how Bar Harbor came to be and why people come to stay. The beauty of the place is unique and full of charm. Hiking, biking, and kayaking is the best way to appreciate that. What a wonderful program!
