I give it 5 stars. Road Scholar assisted with every detail. Reimer and Roger were excellent guides and very knowledgeable about Costa Rica. Adventure and education combined made for a memorable trip. My granddaughter made new friends and the grandparents were fun to be around. I recommend this trip.

I loved my trip to Costa Rica with my grandchildren. A congenial group and a well planned and well done trip. The grandchildren made many friends and learned so much, as did I. I plan to go on more Road Scholar grandparent trips.

If you want to have a great adventure with your grandchild, this program is the one for you! My granddaughter and I learned so much about how complex nature is in Costa Rica while having a fun time. We loved seeing all the birds, reptiles and mammals. And we certainly enjoyed the water activities. Costa Ricans are so entuned to nature, it's sure to make you and your grandchild appreciate it more.

The Costa Rica program with our grandson was beautiful, engaging and educational! So glad we had this experience together in this land that calls us to commit to environmental issues of our day - how timely. The leaders were superb!

This is a wonderful program with so much to do and see. Prepare to be active all day and sleep well at night. Your child or grandchild can learn a lot about culture, the world, nature, and themselves, all while staying safe and having fun.

Only choose this program if your grandchild is ready for big adventure and seeing all kinds of beautiful and interesting animals. Our grandchild read the two descriptions of the two intergenerational programs in Costa Rica and chose this one for these two reasons, and we were so happy she did. Every day was filled with variety, fun, education, and warm, friendly people and we lost track of how many different animals we saw. Our granddaughter's favorite two experiences were swimming in a natural pool below a rushing waterfall and standing in an enclosure next to a toucan who splashed us with water. My favorite was learning about the Blue Zone where people live very long lives, as we ate at a historic home and learned to make tortillas, play the marimba, make clay and dance with a local dance group. My husband's favorite experiences were visiting a regenerational farm and ziplining above the trees. The two guides Erick and Jose made it fun and interesting every day. Our accommodations and food were excellent.

This trip was a wonderful balance between fun activities for older (15-17 year-old) teenagers and for senior adults. The bonding among the teenagers was a joy to see (and was helped by our attentive guides), and the bonding between the generations was enhanced by traveling together and learning together about the biodiversity of Costa Rica. It was a long-awaited dream during Covid, and when we finally were able to live the dream, it met all our expectations. Our guides were fantastic, kind, and knowledgeable people. This was the best of all the Road Scholar trips we've taken so far, but there will be more!

The trip to Costa Rica with my grandson was a delight. There is nothing like an 11 year old boy for complete candor! The trip was well planned in varied locations, our guides were very well versed in every area that we covered sharing in giving informative talks to us as we drove through the countryside. (The bus driver, by the way, was excellent at maneuvering tricky roads throughout our trip.) When there was a huge rainfall our guides were quick to come up with a substitute activity and one of the guides met me at the spa where I was having a message to walk me to a van in the deluge. In addition, when there was a mix-up on the reservation at the last place we stayed it was quickly and satisfactorily resolved. I don't think Road Scholar would want to start using the new location, however, because I don't think their guests are what is typical of Road Scholar. The only glitch on our trip for me is that according to the receipt for my message at the Borinquen, the cost was less than I was charged on my Visa card. I still need to resolve that with my credit card company but I would not recommend the spa to future guests. I would certainly recommend Cloud Forests to Volcanoes though, especially with the two guides we had. Jimmy took fabulous pictures and sent them to all of us to remember our trip for years to come. Our group was small but we were all congenial so I appreciate that Road Scholar did not cancel our trip and that we still had such a large, comfortable bus. Thanks for a fabulous first Road Scholar trip.

Highly recommend this program, both because everyone should know about biological diversity and its precarious situation and because the interpersonal interactions among both kids and adults were a joy to experience and witness.
