Step into the world of fairy tales and Vikings as you and your grandchild discover enchanting Copenhagen together. Explore the city’s canals by boat and by foot to encounter sights that inspired the works of Hans Christian Andersen and Shakespeare’s Hamlet. “Hang” like a local as you play the night away in a board game café. Experience life as a Viking as you set sail on a replica of a Viking ship. You and your grandchild will find endless ways to experience the many facets of Danish culture on this fun-filled learning adventure.
Best of all, you'll...
  • Learn about the life and works of Hans Christian Andersen before embarking on an expert-led walk around the city to see the sights that inspired his famous stories.
  • Visit the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, where grandparents will enjoy an expert-led exploration of its eclectic exhibitions and grandchildren will participate in workshops on painting, sculpture and architecture.
  • Set out on a "mystery hunt" through the royal chambers of the Christiansborg Palace, where you’ll discover clues and solve puzzles while learning about Danish monarchs.
General Notes
Program includes independent time to explore the city and several meals on your own. Group Leaders will provide directions for self-directed excursions. Suggestions for free-time activities provided in preparatory materials.
